About Castrol Honda Superbike 2000 demoCastrol Honda Superbike 2000 brings the complete motorcycle-racing package straight into your home, and you can tinker and tweak the performance of your bike without worrying about oil on the carpet. Officially licensed and developed in conjunction with former world Superbike champion Castrol Honda, this program is the most accurate motorcycle simulation ever made, allowing PC users to race 190mph. All the action is presented with stunning realism. Compete against up to 23 other riders around 20 incredibly detailed race circuits. The demo has two tracks (Sunny and Rainy) and a six-minute time limit, and most of the front-end features are disabled. You can also select which language you want to run the program in.

Sometimes you'll find data on a game saying it's 'Glide' or '3dfx' when it actually support D3D or OGL.Primary reason for that is the 3dfx card was the only card that performed 3D acceleration well at the time. Kind of like calling a soda a 'Coke'.By no means is that list complete, either. And it included DOS Glide games too (unless Nicht filtered all the known ones out.) I compiled it from 1. Moody's Voodoo2 FAQ, 2. Searching for 'requires Glide', 'requires 3dfx', and other miscellaneous derivations of those phrases using Google and Google Groups, which took a while, 3.

An old archive of 3dfx.com archived by The Wayback Machine , which listed current and upcoming Windows or DOS games that used Glide. I still don't believe it to be complete. But sorting out from this list which ones were D3D/OpenGL only, and which ones were for DOS, and which ones are incorrect listings, and which ones did use Glide in DOS or Windows, what version of Glide they require (Glide2 or Glide3?), etc.

that still needs done. To my original lists too - please resurrect them and edit them as Nicht has in the past. By no means, consider it dead. And consider all the games and demos made by lone programmers, screensavers, demos of games that were never published by computer game publishers, technology demos from 3dfx.

There's quite a LOT I haven't listed.I for one would like to see the original technology demos supported from 3dfx - as here:Like my old favorite, 'Grand Bleu.' Nicht used to have done some testing of these. As mentioned before, this may require the (illegal) acquisition of the Arcade Toolbox SDK - talk to the x3dfx guys, maybe they have it:Or it may be impossible if the demo actually wants to talk to the registers of the card, etc. Or if it wants to set SST settings in a batch file. Or something.

Anyhow, what better way to prove/improve compatibility of OpenGlide than running the original Voodoo1 and Voodoo2 demos?- lurker Unregistered. Realize that some of this is going to come down to opinion.A good example is this:I definitely prefer the Direct3D version, but Snover rightfully pointed out the bizarre lighting (entire forest is brightly and evenly lit). For now, we need to stick with removing only titles that have no specific Glide support. Will draw some kind of consensus about comparisons later.l33t Posts: 3630 Joined: 2002-6-30 @ 17:32. BThese are just a few examples of where GLide is NOT needed.Same for Unreal. Why anybody in their right mind would run Unreal in Glide is beyond me. Actually, there a number of people who are having difficulties running these games outside of Glide. Apparently some cards (certain ATI and Matrox models) just don't work properly with Direct3D or OpenGL.

In some cases quality and speed both went up.Mind you, these are mostly people who have older 3D cards. While buying a new card is the best (and most obvious) solution, some people just don't have that as an option.New Card=$, Glide Wrapper=Freel33t Posts: 3630 Joined: 2002-6-30 @ 17:32. That list is too long, as a lot of those games had/have superior OpenGL/DirectX Support.Listing which is superior is not the point of this list. Listing what games had Glide support in Windows, and which ones ADDITIONALLY supported other 3D API's somehow, is. (And removing the games which for sure did not support Glide is, as well.)Here's the big point:OpenGlide needs a list of games for testing. IF one game has a D3D patch or OpenGL patch as well as a Glide patch, or it could support them all, IT DOESN'T MATTER which is better.Theoretically, we should be trying to get OpenGlide working with ALL Glide games, regardless of whether or not there is a better patch for certain games. The more games it supports, the more of a chance any fixes will carry over to any/all other Glide games.

So yes, that means testingPerhaps there should be a list of games that have such patches, or a list that says that using a certain 3d API with a certain game is better, but THIS LIST IS NOT THAT. Craig, I'm sorry bud, but you missed the point of this list completely. And perhaps others have as well.Note that it is handy to know IF a different patch to a different 3D API exists, strictly for comparison testing. But with this list, we don't want to ask which is BETTER. Yes, no one in their right mind should be running Unreal in Glide anymore (as well as other games), but for testing a wrapper? As many functions should work as possible, and if Unreal implements a Glide function that's unimplemented, or provides a good testing environment for debugging another one, THAT's what's important.

In other words, we're not in our 'right minds' when we're testing a wrapper. Theoretically, EVERYTHING should work with it.

So if some mutant wants to run Unreal in Glide, he COULD. Why he wants to or whether he's aware of the other 3D APIs is not important. All these arguments are moot, although some of it is indeed useful information (such as Tanyrhiew's posts - thanks!)Also note: it's best to double-check such info as Tanyrhiew's posts anyhow - if you didn't have a Voodoo card, perhaps you didn't know a Glide patch exists.shrug.- Stilettol33t Posts: 4395 Joined: 2002-7-01 @ 21:57.
